The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee
The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee
When things in your lives seem
almost too much to handle, when 24
hours in a day are not enough,
remember the mayonnaise jar and
the 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his
philosophy class and had some items
in front of him. When the class
began, he wordlessly picked up a
very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar
was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of
pebbles and poured them into the
jar. He shook the jar lightly. The
pebbles rolled into the open areas
between the golf balls. He then
asked the students again if the jar
was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of
sand and poured it into the jar. Of
course, the sand filled up everything
else. He asked once more if the jar
was full. The students responded
with an unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two
cups of coffee from under the table
and poured the entire contents into
the jar effectively filling the empty
space between the sand. The
students laughed.
"Now," said the professor as the
laughter subsided, "I want you to
recognize that this jar represents
your life. The golf balls are the
important things--your family, your
children, your health, your friends
and your favorite passions---and if
everything else was lost and only
they remained, your life would still be
full.
The pebbles are the other things that
matter like your job, your house and
your car.
The sand is everything else---the
small stuff. "If you put the sand into
the jar first," he continued, "there is
no room for the pebbles or the golf
balls. The same goes for life. If you
spend all your time and energy on
the small stuff you will never have
room for the things that are
important to you.
"Pay attention to the things that are
critical to your happiness. Play with
your children. Take time to get
medical checkups. Take your spouse
out to dinner. Play another 18.
There will always be time to clean
the house and fix the disposal. Take
care of the golf balls first---the things
that really matter. Set your
priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand
and inquired what the coffee
represented. The professor smiled.
"I'm glad you asked."
"It just goes to show you that no
matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of
cups of coffee with a friend."

Click Here! Do You need to Save Your Marriage, Lose Weight, or just refresh your Faith? Take Time to Read and Reflect!
What will you do different for the year 2009? Each new year that we are blessed to have is a year to make new and great changes for ourselves and for others. Will you be searching for ways to lose weight? Will you be searching for ways to stop smoking? Will you be searching for ways to earn extra financial income? There are so many things that all of us can do to make each day better for our own self and for others around us. That is what DRAK-ME is all about!
DRAK -ME is _Daily_Random_Acts_of_Kindness_My_Experience. Do you ever think about doing an act of kindness when you are at work, the store, the movies, traveling, at the swimming pool, anywhere? How about the next time you are thinking about it, put the act into motion. If standing in line to pay for a meal or drink, pay for the person behind you. When someone is having trouble unloading a basket help them or a stranded motorist in need of gas or has a flat tire stop and assist. Everyone has the potential to perform an act of kindness each day and make a difference in someone's life. Once you experience an act of kindness, it becomes a daily domino effect. When one person does this, then the next, and the next, and the next......You never know whose life will be enriched and blessed by a random act. They may think twice about giving up on life and create a new hope and belief from within themselves to pay it forward.
The most common New Year Resolution is to LOSE WEIGHT. The best way to Lose is naturally. If you want to lose weight and maintain, it is about changing habits, exercising on a regular basis, and drinking plenty of water. However, it is also knowing the aging process of the human body and what happens to our metabolism as we get older. As we age, our natural metabolism slows down and our body doesn't need as many calories to get us through the day, but that doesn't mean we stop craving all of our favorite foods and sweets. Learning to Lose Weight is a challenge for many individuals. However, each one of us has to learn what works for our specific body make up. This year we are giving up chocolate for all of 2009. One whole year without chocolate! Wow! I Challenge anyone to give up Chocolate on the odd Year. See if you Can Do It.
Ever wonder how to save for Holiday shopping or give to someone in need? Deciding to exercise more could mean anything you choose. Walking, jogging, aerobics, pilates, etc.... How about each day that you exercise you pay yourself! Decide how much you would pay yourself for each mile that you walk, jog, or an exercise of your choice. Let's talk about walking: Think about paying yourself a $1.00 per mile for walking. Let's say you walk 2 miles/day @ 5 days/wk. That calculates out to $10.00/wk, $40.00/mo. At the end of the year you would have $480.00 to use as a DRAK-ME, Holiday Shopping, Donation to any Local Organization, or whatever you would feel lead to do! Wow! We don't think $2.00/day adds up to much but it does!
What will you do to start off your New Year? Challenge yourself ! We want to wish everyone:
A
H-ealthy
